Some Issues/Errors in Absence Management and their reason/solution

     I have compiled a list of some of the issues faced during absence implementation/support. The solution provided below solved the issues in my case. Hope it helps you solve your Absence Management issues as well.
   
1# Issue: Absence Entry report does not fetch start date duration and end date duration

Reason: When employee applies for a leave in the absence of WS the leave gets recorded with default WS hours. Later when the new WS is attached, absence start and end date duration goes missing and Duration (Total) gets adjusted automatically based on new WS.

Solution: Have a work schedule attached to employees when they apply for absence. Incase employee applies for absence when no Work Schedule was attached
  • Attach a Work Schedule
  • Resubmit the absence previously submitted by adding the correct absence start date duration and absence end date duration
2# Issue: “Absence duration must be greater than zero”

Reason: The cause of this issue is same as issue #1. But “Absence duration must be greated than zero” will be shown when applying for an new absence.

Solution:
  •     Attach a Work Schedule
  •     Resubmit the absence previously submitted by adding the correct absence start date duration and absence end date duration
  •     Now apply for a new absence. The absence will be submitted without throwing any error message.
3# Issue: The message is Error from Accrual absencesprocess: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException

Reason: When plan has no accrual matrix in the accrual tab

Solution: 

Even when the plan is manually handled (No accruals are given, only other adjustments are passed) add accrual matrix in the accrual tab

4#Issue: Shift is of 7.5 hours Employee cannot record absence for more than 7.5 hours

Reason: This is due to the work schedule attached to the employee

Solution:

Change the work schedule attached, so that the employee can apply for correct duration of absence

Or

      Enable Override Daily Display Feature in the absence Type. This will allow you to take absence for duration greater than that allowed by Work Schedule.

     Manage Absence records > Add > Advanced > the duration can be changed from that allowed by work schedule.

  5. The accrual process failed because the person isn't enrolled in the absence plan that you specified.....every time i get this error in fusion absence management. Can anybody solve this

    1. Hi Priyanka,

      The employee has to be enrolled in the plan first using calculate accruals process or manually then you run the accrual process. Also the employee has to be eligible for the plan. Hope this helps!
